Reading current metadata…

When the metadata is simply wrong

  • The previous editor left their name as the author.
  • Titles and fields are inconsistent across a case file.
  • A capture date or author needs correcting before archiving.
  • Re-exporting the file just to change one field is a hassle.

What this tool does

  • Prefills a form with the file’s current metadata.
  • Lets you change author, title, subject, dates and more.
  • Writes the new values back — same format in, same format out.
  • One-click GPS removal for images, without faking a location.

How it works

1

Upload one file

We read its current metadata and prefill the form for you.

2

Adjust the fields

Change the values you want; leave the rest as they are.

3

Download the result

You get the updated file in the exact same format.

Frequently asked questions

Which fields can I edit?

Title, author, subject, keywords and dates — plus company and manager for Office files, and camera make/model and capture date for images.

Can I change the GPS location?

You can only remove it, not set a new value. Entering a fake location would create misleading forensic data, so we deliberately do not allow it.

Does the file stay in the same format?

Yes. A .docx stays a .docx, a .jpg stays a .jpg — we never convert to PDF.

What about technical fields like page count or hash?

Those are shown for reference but cannot be edited — they are derived from the file itself.

Are .doc, .xls and .ppt supported?

Not the old binary formats. Save them as .docx/.xlsx/.pptx first, then upload.

Just want to strip everything?

Remove all metadata in one click instead of editing individual fields.
