- What does redaction mean?
- Redaction means permanently hiding sensitive information so it cannot be read or recovered — for example blacking out a document number, or stripping the hidden author and GPS data from a file.
- Is my ID uploaded to your servers?
- No. The Safe ID copy tool draws the black boxes and flattens the PDF entirely in your browser. Your identity document never reaches our servers.
- What hidden metadata can a file contain?
- PDFs and photos often carry the author name, creation software, edit history and — for photos — the GPS location where they were taken. Removing metadata leaves only what is visible on the page.
- Does a password really protect my PDF?
- Password protection encrypts the PDF so it cannot be opened without the password. Share the password through a separate channel from the file itself.
