Frequently asked questions

Which images are supported?
JPG/JPEG and PNG. EXIF metadata is most common in photos from cameras and smartphones.
What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata cameras add to photos: camera, settings, date and sometimes GPS location.
Is there a location in my photo?
If GPS was on when the photo was taken, coordinates may be included. This tool shows that so you can remove it before sharing.
Is my photo stored?
No. The photo is only read to display the metadata and then deleted immediately.
Can I also remove the EXIF data?
Yes — our separate "remove metadata" tool wipes EXIF and GPS data. This page is only for viewing it.
