Saddle-stitch booklet

Turn your PDF into a booklet

Upload one PDF and we impose it into a printable saddle-stitch booklet — pages are reordered and placed two per side, so you print double-sided, fold in the middle and staple.

The difference

Booklet imposition by hand is error-prone

  • For a fold-in-the-middle booklet the page order is not 1, 2, 3, 4 — it has to be shuffled.
  • Work out the spread order wrong and the folded booklet is out of sequence.
  • The page count must be a multiple of four, or the last sheet doesn’t fold cleanly.
  • Doing it in a layout app means manual reordering and 2-up placement.

A ready-to-fold booklet in one click

  • Upload one PDF and we reorder the pages into booklet (imposition) order.
  • Pages are placed two-up per side, ready to print double-sided.
  • We pad the page count to a multiple of four with blank pages so it folds cleanly.
  • Print, fold in the middle and staple — a finished saddle-stitch booklet.

Frequently asked questions

What is a saddle-stitch booklet?

Saddle-stitch is the most common booklet binding: sheets are printed double-sided, stacked, folded in the middle and stapled along the spine. This tool arranges (imposes) your pages so that fold lands in the right place.

Why does the page count need to be a multiple of four?

Each folded sheet holds four pages (two per side). If your document isn’t a multiple of four, we add blank pages at the end so the last sheet folds cleanly. You don’t need to pad it yourself.

How do I print it?

Print double-sided (duplex), then fold the stack in the middle and staple the spine. If the front and back don’t line up, switch the flip/binding edge in your printer’s two-sided setting (flip on short vs long edge).

Can I make a booklet from several files?

A booklet is made from one PDF. If you have several files, merge them into a single PDF first, then make the booklet so the pages flow and fold in the right order.

Does it use credits?

Yes, 1 credit per booklet. New accounts start with free credits so you can try it first.
