The ISO standard for print

Convert your PDF to PDF/X-4

Printers ask for PDF/X — the ISO standard for reliable colour. Upload your PDF and we convert it to PDF/X-4: CMYK colour with a FOGRA51 output intent, embedded fonts and a cleaned-up file ready to deliver.

The difference

A normal PDF often is not press-ready

  • Your printer rejects the file because it is not PDF/X.
  • Screen colours (RGB) shift unpredictably on a printing press.
  • There is no output intent, so the press cannot interpret your colours.
  • Interactive elements or encryption sneak in and break delivery.

PDF/X-4 in one upload

  • A real PDF/X-4 file your printer can accept.
  • CMYK colour with a FOGRA51 (PSO Coated v3) output intent.
  • All design fonts embedded so letters are never substituted.
  • A clean file — no encryption, JavaScript or interactive forms.

The modern ISO 15930-7 print-exchange standard, accepted by virtually every printer.

Output intent

A FOGRA51 (PSO Coated v3) ICC output intent so the press knows your target colour.

CMYK colour

RGB screen colours converted to the CMYK inks a printing press actually uses.

Embedded fonts

The fonts in your design are embedded, so the printer renders the right letters.

Frequently asked questions

What is PDF/X-4?

PDF/X-4 is the ISO 15930-7 standard for delivering files to print. It guarantees managed CMYK colour, embedded fonts and an output intent, so a printer can reproduce your file reliably.

Is the output a certified PDF/X-4 file?

We build the file to the PDF/X-4 structure — CMYK, output intent, embedded fonts and a cleaned-up file. It is prepared on a best-effort basis and not formally certified by a third-party validator. In practice printers accept it directly; if yours requires a certified pre-flight report, run their pre-flight as a final check.

Which output intent (colour profile) do you use?

We embed FOGRA51 (PSO Coated v3), the European standard for coated paper, as the output intent — the most widely accepted profile for offset and digital printing in Europe.

Will my fonts be embedded?

Yes — the fonts used in your design are embedded. One exception: the standard system fonts (Helvetica, Times, Courier) are not embedded by the converter. If your document relies on those, embed a real font in your design software first; the free print-ready check tells you if any fonts are missing.

How many credits does it cost?

Converting to PDF/X-4 costs 2 credits per document. Multiple files are processed in one go and returned as a ZIP.
