Privacy & redaction toolkit

Remove what you do not want to share

Black out sensitive fields on an ID, strip hidden metadata like author and GPS, or lock a PDF with a password. Free, in your browser.

Each tool removes or hides sensitive information — pick the one that fits what you are about to share.

Safe ID copy

Black out the document number, MRZ or photo on a passport or ID and add a watermark. Everything happens in your browser — your document is never uploaded.

Remove metadata

Strip hidden data from a PDF or image — author name, GPS location, software and edit history — so a file reveals only what is on the page.

Password

Protect PDF

Add a password so only the right people can open your PDF. Ideal before emailing contracts, payslips or medical records.

How it works

1

Upload your file

Choose a document or image. The ID tool works fully in your browser; nothing leaves your device.

2

Redact, strip or lock

Cover the fields you want to hide, remove the hidden metadata, or set a password.

3

Download safely

Get a flattened, cleaned or protected file that is safe to share.

Why redact before you share

A plain copy hands over far more than the recipient needs — and once it is out, you cannot get it back.

Prevent identity fraud

A full ID copy or document number is enough to open accounts in your name. Black it out first.

Data minimisation (GDPR)

Share only the personal data that is strictly necessary — redaction and metadata removal help you comply.

Stays on your device

The ID redaction runs entirely in your browser, so your identity document is never uploaded.

Safe to send

Hidden metadata and unlocked PDFs leak more than you think. Clean and lock before emailing.

Frequently asked questions

What does redaction mean?
Redaction means permanently hiding sensitive information so it cannot be read or recovered — for example blacking out a document number, or stripping the hidden author and GPS data from a file.
Is my ID uploaded to your servers?
No. The Safe ID copy tool draws the black boxes and flattens the PDF entirely in your browser. Your identity document never reaches our servers.
What hidden metadata can a file contain?
PDFs and photos often carry the author name, creation software, edit history and — for photos — the GPS location where they were taken. Removing metadata leaves only what is visible on the page.
Does a password really protect my PDF?
Password protection encrypts the PDF so it cannot be opened without the password. Share the password through a separate channel from the file itself.
Is it free?
Redacting an ID and removing metadata are free to try. Downloading a redacted ID uses 1 credit; free accounts include credits to start.
